    Expo / Musea

The Royal Museum for Centra Africa (B) starts its renovation, opening half 2016. Niek Kortekaas belongs to the design team around Stéphane Beel Architecten. The scenography by Niek Kortekaas is based on a symmetrical 'grid', constructed with existing historical exhibition cabinets and newly designed and modular ones.

The scenography forms a durable instrument that enables the museum team and museology to tell the story of Central Africa. The design is sober, compelling and guiding. The focus is to maintain as much as possible the original exhibition cabinets by Girault (the architect of the museum), to restore and adapt with modern techniques. The newly designed cabinets look sober and rigid.
